Jenny Felizzi Interviews
1. If you could be any super hero, who would you want to be and why?I would want to be Wonder Women because she has super powers and strength and she can fly. She can be strong and powerful and at the same time she is feminine and beautiful.
2. What is your favorite physical activity?
My favorite physical activity is a toss-up. I enjoy swimming, walking and using the elliptical all equally. I feel I get the best work out and relieve the most stress on the elliptical.
3. What are you doing on a typical Friday night?
Since we started the challenge a typical night any day of the week begins with a trip to the gym after work. From the gym I go home to meet up with my husband and usually take my daughter to visit her dad for the weekend. My husband and I go out for a nice dinner then go shopping.
4. What are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of how far I've come in my life. I was a single mom for many years alone with my daughter. I made it through some rough emotional times and both my daughter and myself are strong women. My daughter looks up to me and is proud that I'm her mom!
5. What are 3 things you could never go without?
I could not go without being loved by my family, air condition in the summer and sleep.
6. What is the best health advice you have ever been given?
You MUST eat to lose weight. When you eat only salads and "rabbit food" your body thinks its starving and begins to store calories. Also water, water, water!
7. What is your favorite part of living in South Central Pennsylvania?
I like living in South Central Pennsylvania because I enjoy the change of seasons even though they're getting shorter. I also enjoy the diversity of the people, foods and cultures.
8. What's your favorite healthy meal or snack?
There are 2 new snacks that I really enjoy since beginning this challenge. The first one is my fruit smoothies. I use skim milk, low fat yogurt, ice, frozen strawberries, bananas and sometimes sugar free cool whip. They fill me up and are healthy, good for me and taste great. I also make sugar free pudding with skim milk and pour it into a graham cracker crust. After it firms up I top it off with the sugar free cool whip. The flavors run from sugar free chocolate, sugar free chocolate fudge, sugar free cheese cake, sugar free vanilla, sugar free banana and sugar free white chocolate.
9. What was the worst health habit you picked up as a child that still haunts you as an adult?
I was always the largest of the 4 kids in my family. When we were going through school my mom would always pack our lunches for us. I remember my brother and two sisters having sandwiches, chips and some sort of tasty cakes at lunch and I would have a sandwich, an apple and some celery. At the time, as a child I remember how bad it hurt because I felt like she was treating the other kids better then me. Because I was feeling neglected I would come home from school and sneak tasty cakes (mom kept them in the freezer) into my book bag and take them into another room where I could be alone and I would eat them - usually still frozen. I remember thinking "so there!" Now as an adult I still find myself fighting that "closet eater" urge from time to time. I know my mom was trying to do what was best for me but we never talked about it when I was a child and I wonder if we would have if things would different.
10. Who do you most admire and why?
I admire my parents because although they've been divorced for many years they have never made us choose between one or the other. There are 4 kids in my family and for all our holidays and get together we have ALWAYS enjoyed them as a family. They remain good friends and have always been there together for us even though they have their separate lives. My parents taught me how to make things easier on my daughter when her father and I got divorced.
